The Foothills Trail is one of the most beautiful trails our state has to offer. The Foothills Trail is rated by Backpacker magazine as one of the best 50 plus mile trails in the entire country. As we hike around lake Jocassee we will access stunning waterfalls perfect for adventurers and photographers alike. Join us for just a day hike or multiday adventure. Our shuttle will meet hikers whenever possible to provide refreshments, snacks, and a comfortable place to rest. Whether you are a beginner or active hiker join Trail Blazer Survival School for a section hike and leave the planning and driving to us.


Day Hikes

Upper Whitewater Falls to Fish Hatchery Rd.

This hike ascends Grassy Knob and follows the Chattooga ridge with several spectacular vistas. This hike allows hikers to see Pinnacle Rock, Table Rock, Paris Mountain and even Downtown Greenville. Musterground, Jocassee, and Bad Creek are just below.

Burrell's Ford Rd. to Nicholason Ford Rd.

This trail takes hikers along the Chattooga river for spectacular views including King Creek Falls, Spoonauger Falls, and Big Ben Falls. This trail is a strenuous 5-6 hour hike.

2 Day Hikes

Laurel Valley to Canebrake Boat Access

This overnight hike features stunning views including Virginia Hawkins Falls and Laurel Fork falls. Hikers will take a 75ft suspension bridge to head to the top of Laurel Fork Falls to camp for the evening. The second day of the hike features steep ascents and descents with spectacular views of Lake Jocassee.

Canebrake Boat Access to Sloan Bridge Picnic Area

This hike starts with a boat shuttle across Lake Jocassee to Canebrake Boat Access. This wooded section of the trail crosses many streams with steep ascents and descents and follows portions of old logging roads. Hikers will cross a 50ft suspension bridge across a dry ravine and a 115ft wooden bridge over Horsepasture River. This is our most strenuous 2 day hike.

3 Day Hikes

Sassafras Mtn to Canebrake Boat Access

This beautiful hike features stunning vistas of Laurel Fork Falls and Virginia Hawkins Falls. Hikers will camp at Laurel Valley campsite the first night and on top of Laurel Fork Falls the second night. Our Trail Blazer shuttle will meet hikers after 5 miles the first day of the hike to offer cool drinks and snacks. This hike features the longest bridge of the Foothills Trail and ends in a fun boat ride.

7.6 miles Day 1, 5.3 miles Day 2, and 6.4 miles Day 3
